A string of offensive, anti-Greek signs have been displayed in Melbourne, angering the local Greek-Australian community.
Crudely rendered banners reading “Greeks are Turks” were draped from highway overpasses along the Eastern and Geelong freeways.
A defaced Greek flag was hung alongside one such display.
Although it is not clear who is responsible for the offending banners, a Facebook page, also called Greeks Are Turks, recently reprinted the images alongside reposted videos of a Greek flag being set alight, in apparent reference to the ‘Macedonia’ name dispute.
