Commemorative events celebrating Elder Paisios of Mount Athos are set to take place in SA this week.
The Church has organized events at St George Church in Thebarton for July 11 and 12 to honor his memory and Elder Paisios’ last trip to Australia some 40 years ago.
“Elder Paisios visited Australia in 1977 after a formal invitation was extended to him by His Grace Archbishop Stylianos and was accompanied by theologian and later the Abbot (Ηγούμενος) of the Iveron Monastery of Mount Athos and Archimandrite, Vasilios Gontikakis,” Very Rev Diogenis Patsouris ΟΑΜ and director of Saint George Greek College told Neos Kosmos.
“We have been blessed to have been touched by Paisios’ great presence in Australia,” Rev Patsouris added.
