The Greek Program at the University of La Trobe University in Melbourne, which is currently facing some financial problems, received a generous donation of more than one million U.S. dollars from a deceased member of the Greek Diaspora. The money will be used in order for the University to be able to continue teaching the Greek language and culture.
Professor Chris MacKie, head of the School of Humanities at La Trobe University, confirmed the information that the late Greek-Australian who was fond of Greek language and culture donated a large amount of money to the Greek program, mandating that it should be used solely for teaching the Greek language and culture to Greek students of La Trobe.
