olga-kefalogianniThe Greek Tourism Minister, Olga Kefalogianni, visited Melbourne and met with Australian politicians, major tourist agents and Greek organizations.

Kefalogianni attended an event organised by the Greek Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HACCI), which was held in the historical stadium, Melbourne Cricket Ground. Kefalogianni met with several members of the Australian government, tour operators and businessmen.

Olga Kefalogianni pointed out that Greece’s main target is to attract tourists throughout the year and also talked about themed tourism.  She claimed that the signing of the bilateral agreement between Greece and Australia for the avoidance of double taxation depends on the Australian side. Finally she refered to the opportunities that Greece can provide to Australian and Greek-Australian investors.

The Tourism Minister met with the representative of the Parliament of Victoria, Christine Fyffe, the president of the Australian Senate Bruce Atkinson and Greek-Australian politicians. During a meeting with tour operators, Kefalogianni talked about new Greek products and investments in Greece which can help undiscovered areas develop.

On May 14, Kefalogianni and Immigration and Border Protection Minister of Australia Scott Morrison will sign the new Work and Holiday visa agreement between Greece and Australia, in Canberra. The agreement will enable young adults, aged 18-30, to obtain a tourist visa for travel between both countries to live and work for up to 12 months.
