Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni sent out a message to the Greek-Australians on the occasion of her upcoming visit to Australia, calling on the Greeks of the diaspora to visit Greece this year.
The minister, who is visiting Australia as of Monday, will have meetings with representatives of the Diaspora. Greece and Australia are also expected to sign a memorandum of cooperation on the youth mobilization.
“The country is recovering,” Kefalogianni noted. “Tourism has become a key driver for Greece’s economic growth. With 18 million tourists in 2013, we are optimistic that this year’s tourist season will be even better. Greece is a safe and hospitable country for all its visitors. It is a high level tourist destination.”
Australian tourists in Greece spend more per person compared to other foreign visitors.
