Famous Greek actor Kostas Voutsas has fallen victim to theft on route to Australia with colleagues to tour the play The Desperates, causing the first two performances to be postponed.
In transit in Dubai, while being photographed with his fans, Voutsas was relieved of a purse containing his passport, money, credit cards, travel documents and medicines.
As a result, the 83 year-0ld actor couldn’t continue his journey to Australia and had to stay in Dubai for 24 hours. Voutsas returned to Greece and managed to get a new passport in record time before jetting back out to Australia. He is expected to arrive in Sydney at 6 p.m. He is due on stage at 8 p.m.
Performances of The Desperates that were scheduled to take place in Adelaide on Friday and in Melbourne on Saturday were postponed. The play will be presented on Wednesday, in Melbourne at the Dallas Brooks Hall.
The popular comedian expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to his audience and promised to do his utmost to compensate them.
