The Parliament of South Australia decided to re-establish the South Australia-Cyprus Parliamentary Friendship Committee. During the first session of the Committee, its members were informed on current affairs of the ambassador of Cyprus in Australia, Yiannis Iacovou. Many personalities of the Adelaide’s Cypriot Community were present at the event. The MPs, Terry Stevens and Lisa Vlachou, are the coordinators of the Committee.
Mrs. Vlachou, in a speech to parliament, informed the audience about the decision of re-establishing the Parliamentary Friendship Committee and gave emphasis to its three main purposes:
First, to help Cyprus’ reunification in a fair and viable way for both sides. Secondly, to have an intimate cooperation both with the Parliament of Cyprus Republic and the Parliament of Common Wealth of Nations’ Member States. Last but not least, to promote the political and cultural cooperation with Cyprus Republic.
