According to the annual “Rich List,” recently released by Australian publication Financial Review, three Greek Australians are on the list of the country’s 100 wealthiest people.

Born on the Greek island of Kythira, Nick Politis is known for his 38 luxury car dealerships across the country.
With an estimated net worth of $1.31 billion, Politis ranks 79th on the list, making him the richest Greek Australian featured. Politis is also known in the world of sports, as the chairman of the NRL team the Sydney Roosters.

The next Greek Australian on the list is Con Makris, who came to Australia from the village of Ligourio in the Peloponnese when he was just 16 years of age.
Makris began his now massive property development and shopping center empire with a humble chicken shop. Ranking at 82nd on the overall list, Makris has an estimated net worth of $1.25 billion.

The third-richest Greek Australian is Nicholas Paspaley and family. The Paspaley pearls, highly coveted around the world for their beauty and high quality, along with their investments in other fields, brought the family their $1.25 billion estimated net worth.
The pearling business, which farms, harvests, processes, and sells the precious pearls, was started by Nicholas Paspaley Sr., who arrived in Australia from the Greek island of Kastellorizo during World War I. The business is now owned by Paspaley’s children.
